Joe Humphreys Hall of Fame Induction
"Local Boy Makes Good!" In a ceremony at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center in Roscoe, New York, Joe Humphreys, our friend and neighbor, was inducted into the Fly Fishing Hall of Fame. Joe was accompanied at the ceremony by his wife of 56 years, Gloria, and his two daughters. The honor, so richly deserved, was due Hunphreys for his many years of educating Penn State students, his angling career including participation on the US national team, his tireless dedication to conservation (especially on his home water, Spring Creek), and for his educational accomplishments outside the classroom-- two fine books, several videos, numerous articles, and numberless clinics and seminars. For an article on the ceremony itself and also about Joe's long partnership with Gloria, see the thoughtful and evocative piece in the October 27, 2013 edition of the Centre Daily Times. Our thanks to Greg Hoover for the photographs with this article. To Joe himself, a hearty "well done and well deserved" from the staff of Flyfisher's Paradise.
